My wifes laptop screen (TFT) has a few finger smudges from kids (I blame my kids all the time).
Tried wiping with a diaper cloth but afraid to exert to much pressure.

Can you use water?
Can you use a regular crt screen solution?
how much pressure can you exert?

thanks

Make that soft diaper cloth slightly damp with water - you shouldn't be able to squeeze any more water out of it - and use that to wipe the LCD panel.

You can press fairly hard on it, but it's not like washing dishes!

i personally like to do it with power down. And robe with alcohol cause alcohol evaprto faster and i don't not conduct. So even if some leak into your laptop it's still ok. Just wait a few minute tile it dry up then you should be fine.

Alcohol can make the plastic coating on some screens turn yellow (or worse). Don't use Windex or ammonia-based cleaners, either. EVER.

Of course no matter what you use to clean the screen, the computer should be off while you do it.

thanks for replies guys.

will try the water and diaper cloth, was just worried about actual pressure apllied to the screen causing permanent damage. I am not really sure how TFT screen work or what material they use to cover them(certainly not glass)
