How do you check your DSL ?

Hey !!
How do you check your DSL speed ? over at CNET.com it has a bandwidth meter and my DSL timed at 1091 kbps, so is that OK ?

But back to my question, how do I check my upload/download speed ? and is there a way that I can make my DSL MUCH faster ?

sorry for all of the questions but I am a big UT multy-player dood 😀 and I am getting very tired od doods with a 180 ping killing me all of the timer when I come in at around a 50 ping.

don't get me wrong, I usually hold my own most of the time but there are times when the pings are just like I had described and my opponents own me ???? very weird !!!

Thanks guys

😎 isn't broadband grand

You need to find the test closest too you (in number of hops). Everytime you go through a router you have overhead, the ideal test is at your gateway, my DSL provider speakeasy provides a test at each of their POP's so you can see if something is up with your line.

I did it from work.

Test running..........
** Speed 2276(down)/13215(up) kbps **
(At least 45 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

Damn, I'm liking that upload speed 😎

OK, heres mine !

Your download speed : 1228984 bps, or 1228 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 150 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 109589 bps, or 109 kbps.
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!

and thanks guys for the link 🙂

Test running..........
** Speed 3006(down)/123(up) kbps **
(At least 60 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

Damn wish my upload was'nt capped of!:disgust:

not bad, but could be faster.. maybe it's cause of my ISP is further away from Speakeasy.

MY DSL download speeds varied: 678/515/890/705. Quite a spread.

Consider that the further away you are from the server the more routers and switches that those packets pass through (and the slower it is). If you're closer to the server you'll get faster rated speeds.

Wow, big difference at work for upload.. hmm strange that the dnload speed is much slower than upload.
