How Do You Change Your DNS Server?

1) Richt click My Network places, properties.
2) Right click Local Area Connection, properties.
3) Highlight TCP/IP, click properties.

Modify as necessary.

That is, of course, presuming you want to modify what DNS address you are using.

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network

find TCP/IP for your internet connection

highlight it

properties

DNS tab

enable DNS

voila :)

That's what I was wondering.

Spooner, generally you don't change your DNS servers unless you know what they are already. Right now it should be set to automatic.

short story:

GF's lappy ethernet not workin (can't get on the internet)
When I run IPCONFIG it gives me and IP address
All lights on card say it has activity
Device Manager has no complaints

I'm stumped, so I'm thinking maybe its her DNS server (shot in the dark though)

try opening a command line and ping something. does that work?
