How do you change the default fan speed on a GTX 460?

I have a gigabyte gtx 460 OC with an aftermarket cooler (Accelero Extreme). The 460 will default to 40% every time I turn on my computer and I have to manually change my fan speed to the desired setting (80% in my case). For whatever reason the fans will not spin up past 40% gaming unless I change it manually.

I've tried nv inspector/afterburner and both leave my fan at 40% even though they apply the overclock on my card upon startup just fine. Is there any way to automatically apply a different fan speed upon start up?

Afterburner does not change your fan speed unless you enable the "user define" option for fan speed.

Once you do this, enable user defined fan profiles, then you can store it along with the OC profile and have it auto-apply when you boot your system and so on.

Gottcha, the wording in afterburner scared me a bit, specifically " fan profile ". I had a bad expeirence changing fan profiles on a video cards BIOS once, took a while to fix and just didn't want to run into anything similar.
