I have a $100 EE Bond. Should I join the Marines and go on a 6 month vacation in Europe so I can cash it?

well please let us know. i feel left out =(

i have a box full of Savings bonds. well roughly 4k worth but not all are mature. my grandmother would buy them for me for every holiday and whatever. personally i would have liked cash or something.

she keeps buying them for my daughter also. i would [prefer to get cash and put in a savings account.

Yeah - series EE scratch cards.

WFT is an EE scratch card? I had no problems cashing in my series EE bonds at my bank without a passport. Exactly what do you do to know that the page is out of date and that you are required to have a passport? Any links to help with proof?

Thank you.

depending on the series, the interest rate is either variable or some low fixed rate

so it may take many many years to double in value to the face value

EE bonds are purchased at 50% of face value and reach face after a period of time (~15 years, IIRC); Series I bonds are purchased at face value and are redeemed for more.

I have no idea..but I do know that you do not need a passport to redeem a US Savings Bond. :p

Because they were not bonds, they were scratch cards.

This thread will be locked if it continues to in this pointless vein. Bonds require a passport. Scratch cards don't.

It's one thing to make one witty post remark to piss someone off/make a joke, but don't pollute the entire thread with your mindless drivel you nublet.
