How do you carry your laptop to school?

I need a new case for my thinkpad and dont know if I should get a messenger with a built in computer compartment or just pick up a good padded sleeve.

How do you guys carry your laptop to school?

I have a Targus sleeve that fits my computer and then I stick it in my backpack (no special compartment).

Although I'm no longer in school, I still use a notebook backpack. I've found that to be the most comfortable and practical. I have one made by Swissgear.

I used to just drop it into my messenger bag. No case or padding. My bag just had books in the main compartment, so the laptop didn't get scratched or bent in anyway.

I put my lappy inside a neoprene sleeve - then inside a hard-shell attache case - got all my bases covered! Looks kinda nerdy though... like my name is Poindexter or something

If you use one of those soft cases, like 'ballistic nylon' (sounds tough huh?) make sure someone doesn't sit on it, lay on it, lean on it, or whatever. They'll crush your display - ching ching - 700 bones. Might as well buy a new lappy, you know?

I'm tempted to buy a Pelican 1490 then I'd look like Mad Max...

Search your local Marshalls/TJMaxx/Ross. I found a Swissgear notebook packback for $25.
I put my laptop in a neoprene sleeve and put it in the notebook compartment.

If I were still in school, that's what I would do. That is how I transport my laptop travelling anywhere by air.

i use a laptop backpack. i think it's the most ideal solution. maybe not the cheapest. but BesetBuy has this targus backpack they post every month or so for like $18 or less (no rebates). decent size too.

or go to marshalls/ross/tjmaxx as has been mentioned. i've seen a few swiss bags there but you'll have to look every week or so as they don't always have the same selection

I usually just put it in the sleeve then carry it in my arm. If I have an extra book or two to bring to class then I put it in a regular backpack with the sleeve around the lappy.
