How do you carry around these huge phones?

So I picked up a Lumia 820 recently...and with a case it's pretty darn bulky. Like, if I keep it in my jeans pocket, it'll leave a bruise on my thigh.

Didn't really have this problem with the ipod touch 5g I used earlier, or with the flip phone.

Um, is there a better way of carrying these huge things around?

I don't wear skinny jeans, so my S4 (with a case) fits pretty easily in my left front pocket.

It doesn't answer your question at all, but my solution was that I gave up. I tried to carry a larger phone in my jeans and I gave up and sold it and now I'm sticking with smaller ones from here on (iPhone5/MotoX size). Since I'm a bit of a cell phone hardware junkie, It's a bummer to see that the flagship phones are getting so big. My wife agreed and after a trip to AT&T yesterday, she didn't like any of the phones except the iPhone 4S/5 and the MotoX and the Nokia 520 but she decided she really wants a Windows 8 phone - she said she liked the OS better. So I picked up a Nokia 620 for her this morning (she wanted a front-facing camera, so the 520 was out).

im 5ft 7. weighing 160lbs.
with normal work pants/slacks/khaki/jeans, i have no problem fitting a 7inch tablet in front pocket. it bulges out when i sit down, but barely noticeable when walking or standing still.

in my pocket.

I'm 6'4", I would describe the Note 2 as "large" at best. I personally use an S4 and consider it nicely sized. I find smaller phones annoying, too small to do anything worthwhile on, especially considering their cost.

I'm 5'11, 160lbs, and wear Levi's 501 jeans and I can't comfortably sit down in a car with a Note 2 in my front or rear jeans pocket and my seat belt on, and I'm trying to figure out how you guys do it. I couldn't do a Nexus 4 either for that matter, and an iPhone 5 works but even that isn't ideal.

I could change my brand of jeans I guess... but jeans aren't cheap. :)

I find my iphone 5 to be much more uncomfortable in my front pocket than my S4. I dont know why being that the iphone 5 is so tiny but its true. I think its because the stupid ip5 is so small that it always falls landscape in my pocket and my S4 stays portrait.

I am 6' tall & 214lbs. I wear 501's, slim fit corduroys, & slacks. My Note 2 fits fine in every pair of pants, plus no issue sitting with phone in front pocket.
My pants are not baggy, nor are they form fitting tight. They fit properly.

Don't put it in your pocket. Bag, girlfriend's bag, or sitting on a desk. Jacket pocket if you live in a cold climate. You could also go flava flav if you want.

The Lumia 820 is a 4.3 inch phone... There are people walking around with 5.5 inch phones in their pockets. :p

My S4 is actually surprisingly comfortable in my pocket. While it's physically larger than the iPhone 4 I had, it's also very slim and contoured. I don't use a case on it.

i dont think an S4 would be really that bad in a normal pants pocket. iknow though that designer jeans tend to have even smaller pockets than say your typical jeans from say the gap or levis.

an S4 with an otterbox on it yeah probably not the most comfortable thing. note with a not so thin case, same thing. at the very least it'd fit, but just not feel very good most of the time.

i have no idea how anyone can fit a 7" tablet in a pocket. i dont even know what kind of pants have side pockets that wide...

Sticking your expensive smartphone in your rear pocket while driving, one presumes you're sitting while driving, seems like a recipe to break your phones on a regular basis. Then complain on Internet forums about Samsung/Nokia/Motorola/HTC/Apple build quality.

LOL @ skinny jeans comments.

Just as not everyone thinks a costanza wallet is a good look, not everyone thinks a large bulge in their front pocket is a good idea. I suspect those do are compensating for something else ;)

I haven't had a problem, but I don't wear jeans, I wear pants, and I also don't use a case. I wouldn't bother to use a case with any of the Lumias, not unless it's one of the cases that really protects the screen well like an Otterbox. But those cases are so massive that I'd rather just be cautious and self-insure.

I don't use screen protectors, either. Never had a scratch on any screen. I don't know how people scratch their screens, unless they keep their phones in the same pockets as their keys, which seems like a bad idea. Most phone displays are Gorilla Glass these days and fairly resistant to scratching, so you have to be pretty careless with your phone, in my opinion, to get scratches unless it's from a random accident.

WTF is with people talking about skinny jeans. I'm by no means skinny and I wear fitted jeans. I walked into a Diesel store once and I couldn't fit in any of their jeans. THOSE are skinny jeans. Wearing Gap slim fit or whatever is not the same as skinny, and even then it can be tricky with large phones.

You don't have to be a hipster for the phone to be too big. It's often pretty clear that I have a large phone in my pocket as I'm walking around. Heck in my khakis right now (Dockers D2 Straight Fit), you can see the phone imprint. It's not so much that the phone won't fit. It does fit, but it's noticeable pulling out my N4 versus my iPhone 5 which one is easier to pull out of your pocket when you're seated.

For those who keep the phone in their front pocket DOES it leave an imprint?
