How do you apply for internships?

Right now I'm doing customer service for Time Warner and let me tell you, it isn't the funnest job in the world but it pays the bills for now. I'm really interested in getting into the IT field mainly network admin or sys admin type positions. Right now I'm very interested in interning at various companies. How would I approach the company and let them know I'm interested in interning? What are the normal hours that one would require?

Are you in school? Interns are generally college students working during the summer or for credit during a semester of college.

I'm doing one this summer with the agency I already work for. I didn't apply or plan to do it, but one of my superiors basically just handed me the opportunity, so I took it.

Currently I am taking one class at a community college. The class is called Database Fundementals. It's a class required for an Associate degree in CS.

I already work in customer service for a cable company but I come home miserable every day lol. Seriously, I don't even bother posting about it because I have no energy after listening to idiots chew me out for 8 hours.

I would also imagine Time Warner would be a big enough company, that they would offer incentives for upgrading your certification... including such things as paying for most, if not all, of your certifications.
