do you begin the email with "Hi name," or just the name or some other variation
I'm just curious

Unless someone important is cc'd, I just get to the point with the message... no addressing anyone

I follow no standard. It's different all the time depending on who I am communicating with and the topic.

Yep. Unless its someone in leadership or someone I don't know, I just type the message. Otherwise its:

Hello (name),

message

rudeguy
(call center name)

No need for phone number...we don't do phone calls.

'sup fuckwad

your pimp,
[name]

Only if it's a woman or minority though.

Seriously, it's always contextual, but I do try to use their name and I'll usually even start with 'hi'

It sets a good tone and isn't as abrupt as just starting the message.

The only time I'll leave the name off is if I start firing quick emails back and forth with someone.

For example.

"Hi [name], did you get the [document] yet?"
"Hi [me], yes, it just came in, where would you like it sent?
"Please send it to [address]"
"Does it need to be overnight?"
"No, as long as we have it by Thursday we're fine, please send me the tracking number when you get it."

:hmm: uhh... sorry for the retarded example conversation :D

Almost always say "Hi name". Probably about 98% of the time.

I hate saying "Hi name," or something like that. Usually just "Name," or sometimes I skip that depending on who it is.
