how do you add e-mail accounts to a blackberry?

First time I've used the thing, looking to get my gmail account on the bad-boy... Are these things really popular in the US?>

Got the 8700 I assume? Its a nice device, but it does feel a bit large. I prefer the 7100 series myself. Much slimmer, and I'm so used to suretype, I can type on them almost as fast on the 8700.
