I ran into this before when I did some work on a friends' machine, just unplug the hard drive, the bios won't find it, and prompt you to enter the bios, that was the only way I could do it. Hope this helps.
the problem is that I need to setup a new slave drive so I dont think that will work for me. Thanks anyway! Its a shame they make it so hard to work on YOUR computer!
delete, F10, F1 or Cntrl+Alt+Escape (for some older systems) are the most common types of keys to press to get in to the BIOS...just make sure you press them before it finishes the POST...and don't hit them too many times per boot.
The BIOS entry time in newer gateway machines goes by faster than the your monitor can turn on, so as soon as you turn on yuour computer hit F1 or delete (dont remember which)
