how do use stop screensavers such as the aquarium from using vesa mode?

before my aquarium screensaver was running at 1024x768 32bit at 100hz+, but now it only runs in 1024x768 75hz+ vesa, how can I stop it from using vesa mode so I can move the refresh back to 100hz+?
