How do u un-write protect a DLT tape?

Hmm most DLT tapes I have here it is sliding a tab back and forth not pushing a "button" in. Looking at the side of the tape that you can see when the manufacturer's label is on top and the correct way up, on the right hand side of the tape facing you is the write protect "tab". Just slide the "tab" back and forth to lock and unlock it.


EDIT: Bah need to learn how to spell unlock. :)

oh, forgot to mention these are DLT III XT. you push in the tab, not slide left and right. and it wont push out :(

and no budget to get more dlt's :(

I'm looking at a IIIXT right now and it slides left and right about an eighth of an inch.

All DLTs have the same mechanism. Slide tab left or right. Maybe your is busted and the tab doesnt slide back out. In that case a piece of tape covering the hole would work.

duh..thx..i was referring to the tab button to the right side of the tape. pushing it in moves the tab in front...duh :(
