Vcdhelp is a bit outdated. I second Czar with that site. doom9 is probably the most updated dvd conversion guide sites out there. They wrote a guide for the new divx 5 codec very quickly after its release. I know it doesn't take a guide to use it but, it still helps those who need to learn. The other site that I think needs mentioning is Divx-Digest. They have a huge collection of guides and almost every software needed to edit/join/whatever you need. I myself use the guide at doom9 which uses GordianKnot, Nandub and Vdub.
