There's a lot of games that are not compatable yet in win2k but there is a pathc that you could get.
I check the liste but quake is not in it you could still try it and run quake again... http://microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/deployment/appcompat/default.asp
And for that sp1 i install it once and had a lot of probs now i don't have it anymore and no problems at all.
You can run quake2 just fine in win2k... you just can't install it... same is true for windows NT 4.0.
Basically you have to install it kinda like you would in linux... put in your Q2 CD and copy everything in the <CD>:\Install\Data folder to your hard drive. (ex: C:\quake2) and then d/l and install the latest patch for quake 2 from somewhere like http://www.planetquake.com
Should work just fine... I've used it before no problem 🙂
I am an avid Quake2/3 player and use Win 2K. It installed off the cd and had no problem with "compatibility". I did absolutely NOTHING different with the install in Win 2K than I do in 98SE.
I have been using Win 2K since Feb. and I have never had a problem installing any games (that I play...UT, Q2/3, NFS5, etc.) as a matter if fact.
