How do u get rid of WebHancer and Gator w/o killing your internet connection?

i ran adaware on my parent's computer. they had 200+ spyware objects.

2 of which were gator and webhancer. so i told adware to get rid of it and rebooted.

then i was no longer able to get any page after i dialed up to the isp. it was like i had no DNS.

so i went back to adaware and restored all, then rebooted. bingo, got internet again.

so how do i ger rid of webhancer and gator w/o killing internet?

older versions of adaware might have that problem. i would recommend the latest version of SPybot search and destroy.

Run Spybot to remove those 2 pieces of crap.

Not really. These type of people are the same ones that propogate these various Worms and Virii because they are stupid and open every piece of email they get, and click on everything in those emails, no matter who they are from.

you probably just killed everything in adaware. that's a no go. you have to go through all the thngs it finds. it takes some time but it's worth it. (other possibility remove things in blocks, then you know which blovk is the reason behind it. good luck

never tried Spybot...

(never tried kill my parents.. maybe that works too )
