I am gonna do a fresh install of WinMe after a format but also want to do the dual boot of just plain Win98 incase I have some incompatability problems. I just found some in a few games I have so I want to have both but I have never messed with it before so some info on it would be greatly appreciated.

Tell install program you don't want to overwrite your current OS, but to put ME in another partition. Never have two OS's in the same partition. The boot.ini boot menu should be created for you, and put on the root of C:.

Please ignore obenton. He's thinking you're gonna use something like NT2, Win2K. 🙂

You CANNOT *naturally* dual boot Win98 and WinME. Why? Because they are essentially the same kernel, with WInME being the newer. So, simply installing them will just overwrite the existing OS. However, you CAN use something like BootMagic or System Commander to dual boot Win98 and WinME. I've never done this, but I'm sure there are plenty pointers on these boards.

Check the link in my sig.
