how do u convert pdf documents to word documents?

AFAIK, there is no way to go from a pdf to word, because a PDF is saved almost as if it was an image... which is why you can't copy and paste text from them to other programs.

If there is any solution, I'm sure it comes at a high price.

With the writer I think you can. Editing PDF documents I mean

You can do so but maybe not with full format preservation, depending on the document. But, you must have the Full Adobe Acrobat, not just the free Adobe Reader.

YES, YOU CAN convert pdf into doc! It's quite easy too!
Open you pdf with Acrobat Reader, click V, right-click anywhere and choose Select All, right-click and choose Copy.
Open Word and paste. THAT'S ALL TO IT!
Enjoy
BTW, you don't have to select all, after you clicked V, you can simply highlight the portion of text that you want and copy it.

You can copy and paste text from a PDF to other programs with any viewer. And the full version of Adobe Acrobat can convert from PDF to word.

That only works if it's all plain and basic text. What if the PDF has images, footnotes, tables, etc. Then your copy & paste job turns into a big mess.

That just copies text... it doesn't convert anything. Like yakuza said, what about images, formating, footnotes, etc.

You can do Shift-V to copy the columns (table format) to, atleast preserve some fomatting. The images are copied in the same manner by clicking G.
Yes, the process is somewhat tedious, but it would most likely accomplish what gwlam12 wanted to do.

ah ok... well, you should point out that this doesn't work for protected pdf files either.

thanks for all the help.

actually, my situation is more complicated. i had to convert a pdf file that had a bunch of formulas in it into a word document. so after it was in word, i had to manually redo all the formulas. so tedious 🙁

without saying too much (damn NDA's)...

word 2003 has the ability to use a pdf converter plugin

can't say a whole lot except ms is partnering with another company (www.scansoft.com) that is developing an integrated plugin for office 2003 beta testers

anyway, it is very possible, but finding something to do it may be difficult
