How do they pick trustees for universities?

Board of directors for a corporation can be voted by shareholders, but who vote to elect new trustees for universities or non profit organization?

non profit corps still have shareholders that [can] make millions of dollars. many non profits are a huge scam. make a company that does "good," have "donations" and pay yourself a huge salary so the company makes no profit and voila you have a non profit corporation.
