I have an Abit IS7-E with a P4 2.4C retail. I had the CPU at 3.0ghz with the retail HSF after lapping with ceramique. Full load temps were in the 64-65C range so I thought I better buy a new HSF. I now have a Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu with Nanotherm PCM+. I have the CPU clocked up to 3.12ghz this time. Default VCore. After startup my temps are 31C system, 31C PWM, 44C CPU. After 20min of 100% CPU usage with 2 instances of Prime95 my temps stabilize around 46-47C system, 52-60C PWM, 60-62C CPU. After having Prime95 closed for 5min my temps are settled back down to idle levels properly. I am running 260FSB with the 5:4 divider, fixed PCI/AGP, NB Strapping at 800mhz (is this correct?).
Does this sound okay? I realize this mobo measures CPU temps a different way then most other mobos and I can safely subtract 10C or more, putting me in the low 50s for load temp. Is this safe to run 24/7? I'd like to keep this computer for 2 years, do I increase the risk substantially of the CPU going out? Or shouldn't I worry? Also, is that NB Strapping setting I'm using the correct one?
