sorry, i meant 8mil, i edited the post accordingly.
 
ok, well take two areas of your car body. cover one with sticky tape. Rub over them both with wire wool. Remove the tape.

The sticky tape probably ripped off/up scratching the paint beneith 🙂
 
Well do you know that the 7* building in Dubai the big plates or whatever they are on the outside are HELD BY TAPE BY 3M?! Yeah they are held in place by 'special' tape that 3M invented.

I've seen it and think the stuff is overrated. It only protects from minor rock chips (which is nice, but don't expect it to protect against anything larger than the smallest pea gravel) and the film itself is very visible IMO. Especially the line across the hood -- just ugly. And the film fades and yellows over time. Add in the average $600 bucks for full install and I'll just deal with the regular rock chips that everyone else gets too thank you.

they are not invisible, you can still see them. they are really expensive to install properly also.
I go naked, and old school bra for long road trips.
 
Some color cars hide the transition pretty well. If you're serious about it get them to do a sample piece on your hood or bumper. But regardless of what color car and how well the install goes, it's still noticeable if you're within a few feet. If it's say, someone across the intersection from you, they aren't going to notice.

I was at a 3M open day and they told us that.

The info is probably somewhere on the net but I can't be assed to find it 😛
