I finally decided to benchmark my new system:

Athlon 1.0 Ghz @ 1425 (150x9.5)
256 Crucial PC2100
Soltek SL-75DRV (KT266)
Quantum 40gig 7200 (AS)
AOpen 6x DVD
Plextor 8x4x32x
SB Live Value
ATI Radeon LE (@ DDR speeds via bios flash)

Sandra:
CPU:
ALU - 4035
FPU - 1958

Multimedia:
MMX - 7916
3DNow - 9015

Memory:
ALU - 680
FPU - 859

well the memory benchmarks are the main ones to take from sandra...the other ones don't mean much...for video benchmarks i recommend using 3dmark 2001...but benchmarks dont mean all that much...as long at it performs well for what you're using it for then you should be satisfied....

I've never really been a benchmark person - this is actually the first time I've ever used them. I'm just curious if my system is performing around where it should be. I'm definetly happy with its speed (it is quite a jump from my Celeron 333@450) - but if its not as fast as it should be, I want to know.

really, i'm surprised you can feel a difference ;)

just kidding, anyway, those scores seem right on the money. the sandra cpu benchmarks are pretty useless...but they are right where they should be. the memory benchmark is usefull to compare, and that too is pretty good. you would probably get higher memory scores if you can tweak the ram a bit more...i'm not sure if the crucial will give you more at 150mhz (some hae had excellent luck, i am not that lucky). i am not using the kt266 chipset (i have the amd 760, epox 8k7a) and just for comparison my memory scores are about:
alu - 670
fpu - 855

this is with a t-bird at 1450 running a fsb of 138mhz with fast ram timings (8-8-5-2-2-2-2). i'm not sure what ram settings you have in the bios...if you can tweak more then go for it...if not, i would still be happy with those results
