I have finished testing the overclock on my new PC I built, after using a 2.0gh Northwood with onboard video this is a nice step up.
This is my first complete PC build ever, so I don't think I have pushed anything to the edge.
The PC's specs are:
Opteron 144
eVGA 7800GT with copper heatsink
1x1024mb PQI 2-3-2-5 DDR400
ePox 9NPA+ Ultra
First I ran everything stock - 1.8ghz and 470/1100 and got 7257 3dmarks
Then followed the "Quick and dirty A64 OC'ing guide" in CPU forum and OC'd my FSB to 330 with a lowered multiplyer (didn't push it until it crashed since I didn't plan on needing it to go any higher.
Then OC'd my CPU to 9x multiplier and 305FSB before prime turned in an error or crashed during a 5 minute test. It would lock up at about 3 minutes at 310. I backed off 5% as per the guide's instructions and tested again at 2.65ghz and 470/1100 and got 7594 3dmarks.
Then used coolbits' "auto detect OC" and tested at 2.65ghz and 490/1140 and got 7895 3dmarks. Memory was set to a 2:3 divider, so it is running at DDR379 at 2-3-2-7. I have not attempted to OC the memory, but if I can get it to move up to the next divider (5:6) it would run at DDR491, though I highly doubt it will, still the timings seem pretty nice. Current temps are CPU - 39idle/46 load with a scyth ninja and a 120mm fan, and the GPU said it was 47 right after running 3dmark. Voltages are Core - 1.54 and Chipset - 1.6, memory at stock voltage. Now all I need to do is prime for 12 hrs, but assuming it passes, does all this look good?
