i NEVER get ANY spyware or popups... i run adaware about once a week and it never finds anything and thats about it.

every time i go home each of my brothers comps are infested and here at uni at least once a week i go over to friends houses to clean their comps and ive never had to do it just once for a single person... wtf ??!!

I share your pain. My mom's computer had so much that it was locking right after boot. So much crap....now it's protected.

It's down right scary!

I work for some comptuer labs on campus here. One of which is in the all girls dorm. You wouldn't believe how much spyware Adaware picks up. I really don't want to know what they have been looking at, or what they have been clicking, it's insane.

Because they are naive dolts who know as much about computers as they do repairing nuclear submarines.

It's stuff like spyware that makes me wish that nobody knew how good I was with computers.

-*Phone rings at 2 in the morning* "Hey man, a friend told me that his friend said that his brother said you were good with computers, so can you help me? " (I pretty much imagine him saying "I'll be ungrateful and not repay you in any way!")
- and the sucker I am my mouth is too dry so I can't squeek out a "no" before they start telling me what's going on.
- "Yeah, everytime I get on the internet, this window pops up and has dirty pictures and stuff.. and that's all I know... I SWEAR I didn't do anything.... but you gotta help me or my girlfriend will kill me"
- "Yeah, go to the control panel, then add remove programs and remove everything."
- 'Yeah, SCREW YOU MAN, I THOUGHT I COULD RELY ON YOU MAN!" *hangs up*

I swear this really happend when I was living at college (except for the exact friend of a brother of whoever he was, but I know I didn't know any of the people he named... I don't know who the guy was to this day...)

Because they download these cute things like "Christmas Fireplace Screensaver" and "A Parrot that will talk back to you". Once you install things like those, then there is no end to it.
