how do places like ebates work?

say you click on the 2% dell redirect thing, and you're in the small business section... you input all your dell inspiron 5100 options, for example, and you add it to your cart. where does the 2% come into play?
 
Dell pays ebates a commision on the sale and ebates gives you a cut. More than likely, if ebates is giving you 2%, they're are getting atleast double from Dell and other retailers...
 
Assuming you did it correctly, you'll receive a check from eBates.com every quarter (every 3 months) if your eBates balance is $5 or more.

I have saved THOUSANDS of dollars using eBates.com then again it cost me money to save money 🙁
