I was thinking that maybe more people would use them if they weren't so blasted ugly. If you could put a tinted glass above it so it looks like a skylight, but still lets the right wavelengths through, eh eh?
The key is to have a material that absorbs as many wavelengths of light as possible. By absorbing the broader spectrum, you collect more energy per surface area per time. Tinting glass causes reflection or absorption by the tinting material, and is therefore undesirable. If you have a big enough house, you just stick them on the roof and no one can see them anyway. 😛
