I currently live in atlanta - it's ok. Traffic sucks, and the people are really rude. Cost of living is great though (~15-20 min northwest of atlanta will get you a 4 bedroom 2-3 bath house for ~170-200k at most).

In the next 2 years I'm going to be looking for a new job, more than likely. I'll be done with school and all that jazz.

To be completely honest, I am basing my opinion of texas 100% off of cops (the tv show), and king of the hill. Stupid, I know.. but..

what's your opinion?

EDIT:
Ok, hot and humid... ever been to atlanta? 100 degrees, 100% humidity, no rain.

Find Odessa on the map. Draw a north-south line. If the ocean reclaimed everthing to the east of the line, Texas would be an okay place.

I lived in San Antonio and I liked it, traffic got pretty bad on loop 410 though. I would recommend Austin though. Best thing about Texas is the cheap real estate, since there is so much land, a lot of businesses are out in the suburbs.

You base your opinion on Texas from TV shows? I have been to Atlanta quite a bit because I have family there and your traffic is the WORST I have ever witnessed anywhere and it is the reason I could never live there. And you are right about the rude people, but here in Texas people you meet on the street are nice and friendly for the most part. I will stick with Texas. There are plenty of pretty places to enjoy in Texas if you know where to look. You adjust to the weather, anything is better than snow and ice in the winter in my opinion. If I want to go skiing Texas has airports and I have access to timeshare condos anywhere I want. Considering how many people live in Texas it can't be as bad as all the people who have never been here say now can it?

I can tell you have visited many times haven't you.

1. Too hot, only during the summer. Spring time with its wild flowers, mild winters, at times, though we broke a record low last week, it got down to 15 degrees here.

2. Too flat.
Try going to the hill country, past Austin, or out East to the Nacogdoches and San Augustine area, woods, woods and more woods. Beautiful area.

Humid. Only in certain areas.

You have no clue about Texas.

I like Texas for it's diversity, desert, hill country, woods, it is not all flat. Lots to see, lots to do, the people are great. I like it here. :)

Having lived in Atlanta, and now Texas (Dallas) it isn't that much different.
The traffic is, maybe, a little better depending on where you are and when. The weather is a little hotter than Atlanta. Houston is much more humid, and the traffic is as bad as Atlanta.

The traffic in Houston is nowhere near as bad as Atlanta. Atlanta has problems everywhere and the only real bad place in Houston anymore is on the west side but the highway construction will alleviate that to a good degree. Atlanta's biggest problem is the lack of large conduits from the suburbs. I have been stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in Atlanta on a Saturday morning....never here in Houston.

You sir, have made incorrect assumptions. Not only have I been to texas; I've had the misfortune of living there for several years. Granted that was in Houston which explains a lot, but I've driven through the state many a time as well and was not impressed with the rest. This gives me the credentials to form a valid opinion on the place.
