I got bored today and decided to read the bible. I only got to Genesis chapter 7. It doesn't make any sense. God created man in his likeness then decided they were evil and needed to be killed with a flood. Is this just showing God's evil? Man was too violent for god so he decides to kill them to show them violence is wrong. No wonder man was evil they were created to be like god. Adam and eve had cain and abel. Cain killed abel then went east of eden where it went straight to cain knowing his wife and having a kid. Did cain have sex with his mom or what? There was also something about god limiting mans age to 120 years but haven't a few people lived longer than that?

I know people say the bible is just stories and isn't meant to be taken literally but the stories don't make any sense.

Well, I just kinda watch the igniter flame lick at the lower corner. When it catches, I slowly turn the book so the flame is upright and can properly exhaust. At about halfway, I drop it and follow its path to the ground.

And that's how I follow the path of the Bible.

People aren't good or evil because of what God decided, but because of the choices we make. If people choose to follow God's word and live by it, then they are not evil. Life is about the choices you make. The stories are showing you examples of people's choices and the effects of them.

1.God decided to flood or kill the people because they sinned so badly.
2. Adam and Eve had many children after Cain and Abel, and Cain married with one of them.
3. God limited the people's age after he saw their great sins. The age limitation started after a few generation of people already grown to be 900 years old and God saw how they sinned so much so he decided to limit their life to reduce the amount of sin they did.

Thats better than being retarded. What a completely stupid thing to say. You think that no intelligent, non-Christian people voted for Bush? :|

this is the reason that the romans thought that jesus either a) started a new religion, or b) killed the old god

The Romans didn't give a rat's arse about Jesus. The Jews demanded his death.

Also, if you are going to read the bible I would suggest that you start with the Gospels. That is if you want to learn more about Christianity. Jesus was the new covenant between man and god, which in turn kind of nullified the old testament. Anyways, if you check out the stuff about Rabbi Hilliel you will see a great interpretation for the Torah.

My parents raised me by the book.

Unfortunately, that 'book' was "The Shining"
