Another AT'er and I are watching the race and wondering how the odds work... he says 1-5 is better than 1-9, like that 1-5 means more favored, but I disagree.

Also, does 1-5 mean you bet $500 to win $100 or what?

In this instance, 1-9 is more favored, because it cost $900 to win $100.

If it was 9-1 & 5-1, then the 5-1 would be more favored.
