In other words, if you were to buy a tbird 850 and oc it to 1000, would it be significantly hotter than if you were to just buy a 1000 cpu? I assume so, but I was just wondering why...
I doubt it would be much hotter ,but would probably be a little hotter.CPU makers sort out their cpu's into different speeds according to various parameters ,including heat output.
However if they have got the fabrication really well done then even the 'worst' cpu's will pass at higher clock speeds too.
Anyone actually tested cpu's recently to test this?
