How do LCD Monitors Preform compared to CRT ?

I am looking to purchase a 15" lcd here in the near future...im wondering how they preform compared in games to normal CRT's ?? any suggestions would be helpfull and if someone could elaborate why lcd's have higher dpi i would appriciate it thanks a ton =p also if anyone know's where to get em for around 300 bean's let me know...thanks
