How do job recruiters know where I work??

I got some emails from recruiters asking if I want to apply for a job. One email said "based on your current position at AAAA, we'd like to contact you..." and so forth. My current employment is not available to the public. My last resume I posted online (Monster.com) did not have my current job.

Anyone know how these recruiters are finding out my current employment information?

Us recruiters know where everyone works. Stop asking questions.

Seriously, is there some centralised clearinghouse with employee hiring information? Do they ask the IRS for my W-2? Do they snoop my email?

They're pretty tricky as they will CALL a company and just ask for the name and email of the person in Dept. XXXXX. They were NOT looking for you specifically, just someone in you're job position.
