How do icons for blind users work?

There is a blind guy in my econ class. He uses his laptop to write notes. He uses a reader that blows the text up so it fits about 5 charecters left and right and about 3 charecters up and down. It's friggin huge!

Think critically, they tried to teach you that in high school.

No really, they have braile monitors, it's rad.

That wouldn't be blind it would be 20/8000 or something?

Ok legally blind as no driving a motor car or anything but it reminds me of a useless invention like a screen door on a submarine. 🙂

"Legally blind" isn't really blind. It just means the best corrected vision is 20/200 or worse. The icons for the blind are usually just large sized.

most blind scholars ive dealt with use a screen reader program called jaws, it actually inserts drivers in between the OS and the video card, and 'read' everything on the screen, particularly what is tab selected etc...

That's cool.

Before the do not call registry we used to get tons of unsolicited calls. I used the windows narrator to "talk" to them. 🙂
