~~~~ How Do I? ~~~~
Continued from the previous thread.
Post here if you need some help or if you have some answers about getting various deals and promotions posted in Hot Deals. Please keep replies brief and on topic. Long discussions will only clog up the thread and make it difficult for anyone to find the answers they need.
Please do not post coupon numbers or links to sites that would be prohibited in other posts.
Requests for deals on specific items should be posted in the ~~~~ IWANNA ~~~~ thread.
Raves and rants about good and bad deals and vendors questions should be posted in the ~~~~ Brag & Moan ~~~~ thread.
Thank You, and enjoy yourselves here while lending a hand to your fellow forum members. 🙂
Questions are constantly changing depending upon current hot deals and interest anyway. A FAQ would be a lot of time and effort to maintain.
I'm looking for a motherboard that has both AT/ATX power connectors and supports Socket A CPUs - Athlon/Duron. Is there such a thing?
Thanks!
Pcchips.com.tw has a M812. (socket A, sis730 chipset i think) with AT form factor. (fit AT case and use AT power). However, it has ATX connector too. support Duron and TB. Not sure about XP.
A search in google give this for 79 +shipping the web page said its one and only one of this kind (AT form factor support socket A)
BTW, its a question in motherboard forum, not in Hot deal. 🙂 and its not a hot deal at all for $79.
How do I find out people's opinions of ATT wireless in Pittsburgh? I'm going to school there in the fall and am thinking of buy a wireless phone from ATT. Thanks
ok, kind of a dumb (read: inexperienced) question here, regarding a staples rebate on the maxtor 80gb 7200 drive that I ordered online...2 dumb questions, actually.
1) the UPC code...there seems to be 2 strings of numbers that look like UPC codes; 1 is "7 XXXXX XXXXX 2" and the other (perpendicular to the first) is "5 XXXXXX XXXXXX"; notice that the first has 12 digits including the 7 and 2, the second has 12 without the leading 5. staples CSR suggested using the one with 7 and 2, since it has 12 digits...does the sound right? one further bit of confusion is that, in the thread, someone posted that they thought the UPC code was
just get the HD today, no ATA 133 card inside, but it is a fluid motor. I think the UPC code is 7 51921 02669 2.
...that happens to match mine. is the UPC code supposed to be unique?
2) umm, what do I send in as a "store reciept", seeing as how my packing slip clearly states "not an invoice"?
sorry for the lack of knowledge-it's my first time trying a staples rebate, and i'd rather be anal than out $40 🙂.
thanks for any advice/knowledge you can pass on.
how do i know if my mobo is fried... i have no one that can test it for me or anything, i just built it and it makes one long beep then turns off..
Try posting this in the tech. support forum. meantime, add some more info-is this is a system from scratch? what kind of board/power supply? is this occuring with ONLY the, umm, MB, PS, and video card (am i missing anything...?) hooked up? is the board installed correctly? that could be shorting it...
that's about the extent of my knowledge on this-again, try tech support forum, post more details, etc. good luck
shameless plug: anyone have any info relating to my 2 dumb questions in my previous post? 🙂
1. The UPC code is 7....2 they are the same (think of it in the market, they scan the upc code of price, so they have to be the same for store, otherwise, there will not be enough number.) UPC always 12. (i think the first and last is kind of a check digit for the number. I can be wrong with this)
2. package slip, or the "not an invoice" are fine.
OD has $119.99 - 20 MIR - 20 MIR = $79.99
Stales has $119.98
so what would staples do if i tried to pricematch the product. do they take the price after MIR's and then pricematch? Can someone please help me out.
also, search pricewatch.com and keep an eye on newegg.com and directron.com (many black stuff).
I just picked up mcafee virusscan and norton systemworks 2002 from staples, both free for upgraders after rebate...just wondering-has anyone opened these already? can you please tell me what proof will be accepted for prior ownership? im pretty sure I can dig up an old mcafee CD, and I should have a systemworks manual or disk somewhere-would those work? or, better yet, can you please post a phone # to call to ask about these rebates-since i dont want to open my software (intending to check rebate details inside) only to find out i dont have enough proof to qualify.
thanks
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I searched and couldn't find anything about it...Here's the deal...I purchased a laptop from Best Buy last week for $1299 with a $100 MIR, Best Buy this week is offering the laptop for $1169 with no rebate. Will Best Buy do a price adjustment for me to $1169 and wil they take in to account the Rebate? So basically will I get $130 back or $30?
Thanks for the help,
Skeet
On the Best Buy laptop - call Customer Service at 1-888-237-8289 if you ordered online or call your local store if you purchased there and ask what the policies are. Good luck!
