How do I....?

I have a D620 with a T2300 in it. The system is seen by Windows XP as an ACPI PC, how do I get XP to see it as an ACPI Multiprocessor PC? The option doesn't come up in the driver list, re-installing XP isn't an option.

What does it matter? Is something broken or not working? If it is out of the box with the factory preload it is working fine.

I'm assuming you think it isn't being recognized as a multiprocessor PC. Either open Task Manager, go to Performance, and look for the split CPU usage windows; or go to System Control Panel-->Hardware-->Processors and look for two processors listed.

Two CPU's listed in hardware manager, only one cpu window in task manager. CPU history in task manager has only one option, one graph per cpu.

Problem solved. Expanded the halmacpi.dl_, renamed it to hal.dll, copied it to the system32 directory. This crashed my system. When the IT dept repaired the system, whala ACPI Multiprocessor PC.
