how do I....

it will be impossible to block all porn sites, just download one of those net nanny software and use that instead...

are there files in your hosts file already? If so, it should be easy to figure out.

If you're completely lost, download a fairly updated hosts file someplace. Open it with wordpad to edit it. It won't do anything until it's in the proper directory, so you can play around with it on your desktop or somewhere if you like.

p.s. the software forum might have some more helpful people in there, although the responses you received so far should be adequate.

paste this in your hosts file:

Been using these for the last coule years, forgot who here gave me them but they work great.

EDIT: See Below

place in your

WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc directory

(.52MB) Right click, Save As... The one I use (Blocks advertisements)

Included HOSTS file blocks the ad in the blue space above the forums.

(22.6KB)Right click, Save As... Rage187's list (Blocks porn)

Thanks to Rage187

(.54MB)Right click, Save As... Composite link (Blocks both)

May have some duplicate links, but it shouldn't matter.

Open with Notepad or wordpad. Follow the format. 🙂

RENAME THE FILE TO "HOSTS" before placing in directory, or it will NOT WORK!

^ thx

I even use this at work.

My work uses SonicWall, which is a very touchy Firewall, it blocks most billboard ads and pings IT each time it does. Since I surf alot at work(ok, all day) this has probably helped me slip under the radar numerous times.
