How do I view a TS file without jerkiness?

I'm new to the whole HDTV viewing thing on the PC but thought I'd check out a recording someone made of a television show but the framerate is horrible. I've checked multiple sources of TS file too. Is there a codec or driver I need to view this things or some special viewer?

A TS file is MPEG-2 (not H264), so it should be accelerated with NV DVD decoders in a supported software. Have you tried the Purevideo decoders?

It may also support DXVA in some other software that supports it as well that should help some.

Woops, I knew that. His topic came in one ear and out the other for me. I meant MPEG-2 acceleration, which is already available on a few decoders.

Your system just isn't powerful enough (nor is mine or most people's). For optimum performance change to Video Mixing Renderer 9 mode (sometimes "High Quality" mode). This should enable the DXVA mode and help decode times. You do have to have a supported MPEG-2 decoder. Actually you do not need the NV DVD decoder. Elecard-Moonlight also has a decoder that is just as fast as NVIDIA's, and I tested this a while back on a thread. I'm unsure if DXVA works on Overlay (default mode) or not. If it does, Overlay will give you a minor boost over VMR mode.

Download Moonlight accelerated MPEG-2 decoder.

ffdshow doesn't support DXVA. Your profit will be in the negatives. :)

TS is not always MPEG 2. Its usually RAW video stream uncompressed.

1-If you cant run your monitor in the high resolution needed and the media has to be downsampled then your going to need a bigger CPU.
2-Try resolution 1280x960 if you cant do 1920x1080 or better.
3-I use VLC media player on windows to play TS streams.
4-IODATA linkplayer 2 and soon Linkplayer 3 are hardware DVD players that can play these files with no problem.
5-I recommend a Radeon 9500 or better video card and at least a 2700+ CPU.
