How do i use this "file" i DLed off bit-torrent?

Hi.
I just finished DLing ReLoaded off Bit-Torrent/SuprNova.
But rarther than it being in *.avi or *.mpg format, its in *.bin.
So how in the hell do i use it?

No offence, but i didnt actually say what was reloaded. It could have been a self made movie called reloaded, from a friend.
Im asking how to use a *.bin file, not a lecture on legality issues of DLing films.
So...can you tell me how to use a *.bin file? or are you going down the high and mighty route?

I don't think the responders were being "stuck up". They were probably just disappointed to see someone who has been here as long as you have post a piracy question. If you've visited AT at least rarely, which your almost 3000 posts seem to indicate that you have, you should know that some things are just not discussed here.

It's not about being "stuck up", it's about following the rules. There are hundreds of other forums that are in place SOLELY to dicuss those types of things (I bet bittorrent itself has a forum where you'd have found answers).

It's just with all the RIAA lawsuits against file-swappers, the MPAA banning DVD screeners for Academy members, DirecTV suing thousands of people it thinks pirated their signal, etc.... I would just make damn well sure that when you post a question like you did, that you do it in a correct forum. Judging by the responses you got here, I'm inclined to think that this forum wasn't the best choice.

I`d bet that if i didnt mention bit-torrent that i`d have had no problems.
Becides. Its not like the MPAA or the RIAA has any power where i live (UK).

.bin files are normally image files for cd's that need to be burned onto a cdr using nero, or other burning software.

Normally you have a .bin and a .cue file, both are needed normally to burn the file correctly to a cd.

i could care less either way about piracy, and think alot of media is way overpriced and understand why people dont want to overpay for it...to an extent

but common, saying that makes you look even more foolish, you look bad enough trying to steal a movie as it is, why make it worse for yourself?

now, go have a cold :beer: or 5, and dont worry about the movie you stole....especially if its the matrix reloaded, because it kinda sucked ass anyway and isnt worth the disk space and bandwidth you spent on it.

Normally you have a .bin and a .cue file, both are needed normally to burn the file correctly to a cd.

They're mostly used for VCDs or audio CDs as the bin/cue format supports multiple tracks while normal ISO images don't. The great thing about bin/cue VCDs is that mplayer can play directly from them with no need to burn to CD.

Belive this if you want or not, but i am actually planning to get reloaded. I plan to buy all 3 matrix films when they are released. Now obviouslt this doesnt make it any better but still.

This is one of my favorite arguments "I did it, so everyone else must do it too!" Just beucase you steal, doesn't mean everyone esle does. And, even if everyone else did, the difference (in this case) being that they don't advertise it on a forum where it is frowned upon and against the rules. I agree, jeez the hate and prejudice in this group. I've downloaded *.bin files before and had nothing to-do with pirated stuff of any kind. Anyone who's part of a beta program will know. All I saw here was people jumping to conclusions and being prejudicial to the extreme. So everyone here is squeaky clean eh... no one has an MP3 or copyright JPG of any kind.

Have you ever seen SuprNova? The only non-commercial torrents I've seen on there were Linux distros and they're rare, a bin/cue pair from that site is going to almost always be either a movie or TV show.

It was a distribution of Linux called;
Linux Reloaded. Its the same as a normal version, but has been heavily modified to look like the the interface used in the matrix film, specifically the ones used in reloaded.

What's wrong with downloading a TV show? Just as it's not illegal to tape songs off the radio and listen to them yourself, it's not illegal to record anything that comes into your home by legal means (this includes taping a PPV movie that you pay for - it IS legal). Copying a rented videotape or dvd IS illegal, as would be a CD, but "streaming" content such as music, tv shows, movies, etc. is perfectly fine for private use.

Just as downloading an mp3 of a song you own on cd is legal under the fair use clause of the DMCA, it would apply to tv shows as well, no?

[on topic edit]: I use nero to burn bin/cue. WinImage or Isobuster will extract the mpg from an image.
