I have a 30gig 75GXP (ATA100) and a 20gig 34GXP (ATA66)

and i want to utilise the raid from the mobo

what should i do??

and how can i run raid between ata100 and 66??

Don't do it, RAID is only as fast as the slowest drive in the array, being you have that 34GXP, not only are you going to lose 10GB off the 75GXP, it will also have the lower seek time of the 34GXP.

ic

do i need to install the promise raid driver if i dun use the raid

i was gonna test my hd by hdtach but i did not find any of my hd in there

you'll be able to run a RAID setup, but it'll be a little flakier. you'll get 40gb total, and only be able to run ATA/66 RAID, you won't get to use the 100 from the 75GXP since the 34GXP will be capping you. your bandwidth will still increase though, so you kind of have to weigh out your options. if i were you i'd first try to get rid of the 34GXP and splurge on another 30gb 75GXP (maybe a 45gb, there's only a $10-20 difference if you want to split them up later).

first you'll need to set the RAID jumper on your mobo, look around in the manual, it'll be in the bot right of the mobo near the front of your case. then enable it in your BIOS (ATA100/RAID) and then set it up in the boot order. that should be all there is to it.

If your using the Promise Controller for ATA100 and not RAID make sure you have the jumper set to ATA100 (Default). The drivers for ATA100 Promise controller are on the CD, or you can download them from www.asus.com.tw

if you're using win2k DO NOT download the ones from asus' website, they're bunk. i tried those for hrs before i checked out the forums and found out that they were different drivers. the correct ones are on the cd, it should say LITE version or some degree of that, the ones off Asus' site seem to be the full promise drivers, however the one integrated with the a7v133 use the lite version. unless Asus' updated their site watch out for that.
