how do i use my dvi-vga adapter?

i pluged it in but nothing pops up on my screen

Turn off the computer.
Plug DVI part into card
Plug VGA monitor cord into other side of DVI-VGA adapter
Turn on computer
It should work
if not try the other DVI port on back of card.
