How do I use MemTest-86 v3.0?

Never used this program before and I'm not sure exactly how to use it or what I'm looking for.

I installed it onto a floppy per the readme. I booted from the floppy and it immediately started testing the memory. What exactly is going on? Does the test stop on its own or do I have to stop it? Could someone fill me in on what I'm suppose to do? So far it says it's ran 28+ minutes and has 3 passes and zero errors.

Thanks,

It will execute several tests, I think it's 7. Check the README file for descriptions. It will continue looping through and executing them until you stop it. I use it to test my customer's RAM when they claim there's a problem. If the memory can complete 1 pass I consider it stable and operational. When you're done testing just push ESC.

When memtest86 starts, hit C to configure, then 2 for test selection, then 3 for all tests, then 8 to restart to run all 11 tests.

make sure to run "all tests".. my memory passed fine on the default tests, but once I started running all of them errors started showing up under test #10...running it for 5 hours.

even though the errors were not constant and in the same locations, I deemed my memory unstable.

shameless plug : NewEgg gave me an RMA without question!

I concur. I've had errors show up after 15+ hours, usually in the advanced tests. As a matter of fact, I don't ever remember getting errors in the basic 7 tests, they always show up in the advanced tests.
