How do i use a downloaded desktop theme?

Hi,
Ive just downloaded the Zelda desktop theme from the Nintendo VIP website, but its in a file format that windows doesnt recognise. *.sdtheme.
Ive tryed renaming it to *.theme but when i go to apply it, windows comes up with an error saying it that the file doesnt work.
So how do i use it?
 
What exactely is WinStyles? Is it a 3rd party skinning program like WindowsBlinds, or a way to add themes to the themes menu on the display propeties?
