How do i upgrade Cd-rom firmware under win xp, it says to use to perform action in pure dos mode, does xp have a pure dos mode. the drive is a lite-on 52x.

Are you having problems with the drive? If not, I suggest not updating the firmware unless it's something important.

I believe you can use a bootdisk to do it.

create an ms dos bootable diskette and boot from that to update your firmware. When you format a floppy in xp there is a selection for creating an msdos startup disk just format your floppy with that selection and you should be able to update your firmware booting from that.

my cdrom does't read mode 1 cds for on the fly burning, im guessing the update might fix that, and im using xp's generic drivers, that could be the problems too.
