My computer is not working right, the PCI slots will not install any hardware such as a modem or sound card. I want to try another motherboard. I have windows xp home edition installed. I used the NTFS file system when installing. How do uninstall windows xp or reformat the hard drive? THe add/remove programs utility does not show windows xp in the list( I assume because I used the NTFS file system). I would like to start with a clean system for the new motherboard.

well, i assume you don't have any data you want to save or backup right? if so, it's easy

basically, swap mobos or whatever you want to do...and then when you have your new system built up, put the xp cd in the cd-rom drive and boot the computer...the xp cd is "bootable" and will load setup for ya and you can choose to install XP with the option of formatting the existing file system....it's as easy as that

follow through the instructions and you'll have a fresh XP install.

Trying to install an new mobo without a clean OS install is useless....
Reinstall XP and stay with it- This Gates product rocks!
