I am trying to put in Windows 98 second edition full version and it says I need the upgrade version because I already have an operating system installed. Please help. Thanx.
Go into add/remove programs, hit the start up disk tab. Make one. Then boot off of it and type "format c:" You'll lose all your files of course, but after you format that sucker you can just run setup from the cd or boot off it. That's the easiest way. I don't know of anyway to upgrade if you've got a full version of 98se. Can only do that with an upgrade cd I believe.
make the bootdisk like suggested in the last post, then boot up to the disk, load w/ cd-rom support, let the boot disk run, when it gets to a:\ change drive letters to your cd-rom drive. do a dir on the drive to make sure you are reading your win98se install disk. at the prompt type setup and let it go. install away.
also i think you can browse the cd and find "setup". it would probably be easier but its always a good idea to have a boot disk. hope this helps.
I originally formatted and then installed win98 and then win2k over it, but I only use win2k. Is there any way to uninstal windows 98 or should I just leave the files there but never boot to it?
