How do I uncompile a pdf? I want to copy of the text but cant be bothered to manually type it

any freebie software?

AFAIK, you don't. That's the point of PDF files, they're designed to be redistributable, but not editable. I understand that you're not trying to edit the document, but I don't know of any way to copy & paste stuff out of it.

There might be an option hidden away in Acrobat Reader that will let you do this, but I've never seen it.

if the pdf is not protected, you could do one of the following:
1. simple windows copy paste with the text selection tool
2. use acrobat 6 to do a file save as : .doc, .txt, etc.
3. use one of the zillion pdf to txt converters out there .. use google

if the pdf is protected, you will need to disable the pdf's protection first, then you can appy any one of the previous methods

How can i disable them?
You don't. If the file has a copy protection scheme enabled, that means it is not free to copy. It may also be illegal to do this, so I doubt you will get help with that particular request.
