A little proggy called W95powertoy will do the trick. It is/was a download from MS. You might have to dig a little.

The program Danlz is talking about is TweakUI

You can download a version for Win 98 here

As far as I know, Win2k already has TweakUI in the Control Panel. I'm on Millenium right now so I can't check that for you.

It's on your win98 cd (not sure on 95, 98se, 2k, or ME).

ummm I think in ...\resqit\tools\powertoy, it's been a while.

Uh, if you're refering to Win95/98, then just go into your C: drive, and find Msdos.sys and open it with notepad and add this line under options:

LOGO=0

Thanks guys. Adding the string in msdos.sys works just fine. I don't know if it loads that much faster in all reality though. Is there any other way besides unchecking the start-up items in msconfig start-up to speed booting up?

You may already know this but some bios have a "quick boot" option. Or you can just look in the bios options to see what it's doing at startup. For example, before I had a scsi drive my bios would always check for scsi devices until I disabled it.

I also always check the start up folder in windows after I do the msconfig thing, just to be sure there's nothing loading.
