How do I turn on s/pdif on Asus K8N-E??

I'm really lost and I have a digital receiver I'd like to use to full potential. I think it needs to be turned on in both software and hardware, but I can't figure out the hardware part. I know a lot of you have the Asus, so if you've done it, please tell me how!!
 
That's my question exactly... I've upgraded the driver to v3.61 (Sept 2004) from the ASUS website, and then bumped it to v3.68 (Dec 2004) using the driver from Realtek. Still can't see the optical S/PDIF port in the Realtek sound manager applet, and it thinks that there are wires plugged into the 1/8" jacks, even though the only audio connection is optical, directly into an Onkyo receiver.

Hmmm.... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... TIA!
