How do I turn off this external HDD?

I picked up an maxtor external hard drive today, and there is no buttons or anything to turn it off, even when I shut my computer down its still on and spinning, ive checked the manual and website but I cant find anything on how to turn it off, anyone have an idea?
 
You mean besides unplugging it? I have 2 Maxtor external hard drives and neither have power switches. Just unplug them, but you can unmount them first to be safe.
 
Mine doesnt have an external power button either. I just use the tray icon to disable/safely remove before unplugging it.
