How do I turn off that damn confirmation box for changing an extension?

When you change a file extension in Windows Explorer, it always pops up a box to warn you that changing a file name extension may make the file unusable and do you really want to do it.

I know what I'm doing and I ALWAYS say yes.

I learned long ago how to turn off the Recycle Bin's confirmation popup. Anyone know how to stop this one if it's possible?

I don't believe that can be done.

If you have your heart set on figuring this out you'll want to use Regmon from sysinternals to find out what registry keys are being accessed during that dialog.

It won't be fun.

hmmm

you think it's a registry action?

I hate it but I can live with it, I realize that. If there is an answer it would be very interesting, but I won't lose sleep over it.

I've heard of Regmon. I'll consider that

Hey, thanks
